Description
This Homemade McGriddle recipe combines fluffy pancake buns, savory sausage, melty cheese, and a touch of maple sweetness for the ultimate copycat breakfast sandwich. Easy to make, freezer-friendly, and even better than the drive-thru!
Ingredients
2 cups pancake mix (or homemade batter)
1 cup milk or water (as needed for batter consistency)
2 tablespoons pure maple syrup (plus more for serving)
4 breakfast sausage patties (pork, turkey, or chicken)
4 slices American cheese (or cheddar for a sharper taste)
2 large eggs (optional, fried or scrambled)
2 tablespoons butter or oil (for cooking pancakes)
Pinch of salt & pepper (for eggs, if using)
Instructions
Heat a skillet over medium and cook sausage patties until browned and fully cooked. Set aside.
Mix pancake batter according to package or homemade recipe instructions. Stir in 2 tablespoons maple syrup.
Grease skillet with butter or oil. Pour small rounds of batter (about 3 inches wide) to form pancake “buns.” Cook until bubbly, then flip until golden brown.
(Optional) Cook eggs to your liking—fried, scrambled, or folded. Season with salt and pepper.
Assemble: Place one pancake on the bottom, add sausage, a slice of cheese, and egg (if using), then top with another pancake.
Serve warm with extra maple syrup for dipping or drizzling.
Notes
Make a batch ahead of time and freeze individually wrapped sandwiches for quick breakfasts.
Try swapping sausage for bacon, or add veggies like spinach and mushrooms.
To reheat: Bake at 350°F for 10 minutes or use an air fryer for best results.
