1 sheet Puff Pastry

1/4 cup Sugar (Brown sugar for richer flavor)

1 tsp Vanilla Extract (or almond extract)

1 Egg (for egg wash, or milk)

Filling of Your Choice (fruit preserves, Nutella, or cream cheese with herbs)


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to about 1/8 inch thick.
  3. Cut heart shapes using a cookie cutter or knife.
  4. Place filling in the center of half the hearts, leaving space around edges.
  5. Top with remaining pastry hearts and seal edges by pressing down.
  6. Brush tops with egg wash (egg and water/milk mixture).
  7. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Can be filled with various fillings based on preference. Avoid overfilling or skipping the egg wash to ensure golden pastries.
