BURRATA HOT HONEY TOAST elevates brunch with burrata hot toast rich texture bold flavor and easy steps restaurantquality results at home
Ingredients
Scale
2 slices sourdough bread
8 oz burrata cheese
1 to 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
2 to 3 tablespoons hot honey
a pinch flaky sea salt
to taste freshly cracked black pepper
a handful fresh basil leaves
1/2 teaspoon lemon zest
to taste crushed red pepper flakes
Instructions
- Toast the bread: Heat a skillet over medium and brush with a thin layer of olive oil. Toast 2–3 minutes per side until deeply golden and crisp to the bite, then set aside on a warm plate.
- Prepare the burrata: Let the burrata sit at room temperature for about 15 minutes. If it’s in a pouch, snip the top and gently tear or scoop the creamy center onto the toast, leaving some of the outer shell in ribbons for texture.
- Season the base: Drizzle a little olive oil over the warm toast, then sprinkle with flaky salt and a crack of pepper. The heat from the bread will bloom the pepper’s aroma.
- Assemble the cheese: Distribute burrata chunks or ribbons over the toasted bread. The warm bread and cheese should mingle; the burrata’s cream should slowly ooze into the nooks of the toast.
- Finish with honey and herbs: Drizzle hot honey in a generous, spontaneous pattern. Scatter torn basil leaves and a bit of lemon zest if using. Add a light pinch of red pepper flakes for extra kick, if desired.
- Serve right away: This toast shines when it’s hot and the burrata is still luxuriously soft. Pair with a simple green salad or a bright tomato plate if you’re feeding guests.
